Recognizing With American Eskimo Puppy More Before Keeping It

Ben Williams, one of the world famous writers America ever had once quoted that there is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face. Are you a dog lover? Chances are that you’d agree with what Mr. Williams said. Dogs come in different sizes and shapes. There are dogs black in color, and then there are the white and brown ones. The American Eskimo puppy is more of a white, fluffy, cute little puppy that could melt the hearts of many who sees it for the very first time.

The American Eskimo puppy comes in three breeds. One is the standard type where an American Eskimo puppy would weigh around 18 to 35 pounds and will have a height of 15 to 19 inches. The miniature type of American Eskimo puppy will reach a height of around 12 to 15 inches, a little less than the standard type and will weigh approximately 10 to 20 pounds. The toy dog type is the smallest and will have a height between 9 and 12 inches, weighing 6 to 10 pounds.

If you are the owner of an American Eskimo puppy, it is necessary that you keep a few things in mind. Even though the American Eskimo puppy comes from a healthy breed, owners should watch out for any differences in their eyes and tear ducts as they are known to be prone to various illnesses such as cataracts, acute moist dermatitis (from flea allergies), hip dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy, epilepsy, etc.

Most of the above diseases could occur as the American Eskimo puppy grows older. Since this breed has a likelihood of having severe allergies due to fleas, attention must be given if you notice them scratching frantically. Even one single flea could result in scratching and there onwards skin lesions, etc could occur. Therefore, keeping their coat clean and free from ticks, etc can be good for the American Eskimo puppy.

As they grow older, they can become overweight quite easily if proper exercise is not given. Since the American Eskimo puppy is very active, it needs to run and play around in the open. With the type of thick fluffy coat they have, owners will have to brush it at least twice a week in order to keep a healthy, shiny coat all year long.
