Have You Considered Buying A Rabbit Hutch And A Rabbit For The Children?

If you’re looking for a great pet for children consider a rabbit. They are nice and small and a child can comfortably sit them on their lap, they are cheap to buy, they are cheap to feed, they don’t bark at the neighbours and they won’t live as long as a dog or a cat so you’re not committing to looking after the rabbit once the children have left the house.

Not only that but they can be an indoors pet as well as an outdoors pet.

A rabbit is normally housed in what is known as a rabbit hutch, or a rabbit cage. These generally consist of a sleeping area which is enclosed so that he can, if living in an outdoors hutch, be protected from the weather, and a run where he is able to play and exercise.

The rabbit hutches that you find in pet shops are generally too small. They are too small for one rabbit let alone two. Rabbits are extremely active and need lots of exercise and for this reason most rabbits are unable to get sufficient quality exercise in a small hutch.

If you are keeping him outdoors you can overcome this problem by having a rabbit run. A run is simply a protected place where he can play when left out of the hutch where he is protected from predators and unable to escape.

But if you wish it is also perfectly possible to keep your rabbit indoors by putting his rabbit cage in, say, the laundry, anti will be warm and dry there.

And whether you decide to keep his rabbit hutch indoors or outdoors it still needs cleaning.

And is important to remember not to put wire on the floor of the hutch as rabbits do not like walking on wire.

If you keep your rabbit indoors however it’s important to remember, just as for an outdoors rabbit, that he will need some play and exercise time out of his hutch every day.

And of course this is the best part of having a rabbit. Why not have a room dedicated to rabbit exercise? Provide him with a safe room full of toys where he can play and exercise every day.

And it’s quite possible to house train a rabbit.

But there is some work to do before allowing your rabbit to play indoors. Rabbits love to disappear into small holes, and can be hard or impossible to get out, just so you need to do a thorough inspection of the room to see that there are no dangerous holes where you can lose your rabbit.

Then why not cut up a few plastic pipes for him to play in and watching enjoy himself in his room.
