The Chase
No matter what the breed, it is in a dog’s nature to pursue moving objects. Whether cars, people or other animals, you dog will be tempted give chase. You can end up with a not so happy ending if a chase occurs and ends badly. While you may not be able to take the instinct out of the dog, there are thing you can do to keep your pet safer. Stopping the chase by a puppy prior to it beginning could be your best method to alter its behavior. Before a puppy runs to a chase, he may stop and look at you first, if you have worked with him and taught him to stop this behavior.
Problems With Puppy’s Jumping Up
When a puppy or dog sees one of their masters, they tend to leap up to say hello. They may carry this behavior over to people as well. Some dogs like to show that they are dominant by jumping. Dangerous and irritating behavior can be exhibited in the form of a jumping dog. You may not succeed at first when training your dog not to jump, so keep trying. Some dogs may have the wrong and undesirable behavior triggered when a person pushes the dog, grabs the paws or lifts a knee when attempting to change the dog. In general, to acknowledge your dog’s behavior in any way is seen by the animal as a reward so you may be reinforcing the unwanted behavior without knowing it. Turning your back on the dog and ignoring him is the best approach. Be careful not to speak, touch or make eye contact with the dog. Function as if the dog wasn’t there. Only return your attention to the dog when he has calmed down. Your puppy’s problem behavior may subside when he understands your actions.
Dog Biting Can Be A Serious Problem
The biting instinct is a carry over from when dogs traveled and functioned in packs. Biting is one way that your puppy will use to establish his place in the pack and to explore the world around them. It is important to teach the puppy right away that you will not tolerate any biting or mouthing.
Some communities have tried to address the behavior of certain breeds by instituting specific laws targeted to controlling those breeds. If your dog has been bred correctly and then trained in the right way, the tendency of an issue with biting with your dog will decrease. A Potential Problem Behavior is Aggression
Biting, lunging, showing teeth, snarling, and growling are some of the behaviors that exhibit dogs problem behavior. A dog has the potential to become aggressive regardless of breed, past history, training or age. If the dogs parents were aggressive or if your dog was brought up in a home that was abusive, you can be sure that he will begin to show the aggressive side of his own personality. The more difficult behavioral problems are exhibited by dogs with aggressive attitudes, who will snap or bit for the same reasons that they are aggressive towards animals or people. A dog who is generally aggressive or irritable may be reacting to a health condition. A trip to the vet can easily determine if your dog has an underlying condition that could be causing the behavior. A good animal trainer could be the right answer for the bad behavior that your dog exhibits. Mean dogs need to be kept away from other fine animals and people.
